Mr. Kallen
Mr. Kallen is the webmaster, editor-in-chief, and teacher for this intrepid group of Journalism students and aspiring reporters. Mr. Kallen has been working at Mainland Regional for almost nine years and this is his first year teaching English, Creative Writing, and Journalism. An avid Red Sox fan, Mr. Kallen enjoys traveling when he is not teaching. He also enjoys spending time with his family and five dogs.
Levar Messiah Davis
Hello my fellow readers, my name is Levar Messiah Davis aka The Legend Seeker. Currently I’m taking journalism class with Mr. Kallen, who is doing a awesome job by the way. I am seeking out the truth about supernatural events. I also run track, participate in NJDFL and I’m part of the musical called Sister Act. I love pizza and being active. I search for the truth and I expose it to the world, and unfortunately for the ladies I’m taken ;-) LOL
Maggie Shepherd
My name is Maggie Shepherd, and I am enrolled in Journalism this spring here at Mainland Regional High School. I am an aspiring broadcast journalist hoping to one day bring you the latest from a baseball stadium near you. I currently work as a producer for the local news talk radio station 1400 WOND, and enjoy every minute of being behind the controls. I love the summer because it allows me to do some of my favorite things: hit the beach, spend time with my friends, and travel. I’m a music lover, avid sports fan, and definitely not afraid to voice my own.
Jaime Wilson
My name is Jaime Wilson, I am taking Journalism this semester at Mainland. I am a part of Mainland’s track team; I enjoy running, and participating in other physical activities. When I am not running, I like to learn about crime and watch Law and Order: SVU. My favorite time of the year is summer; I like to go to the beach, get tan, and travel/visit different places. I am here to give you my opinions of different situations and topics. Hope you enjoy!
Quinn Smith
My name is Sidney Joseph Quinten Marder-Smith, but most people call me Quinn. I am a sophomore at Mainland Regional High School, and I take Journalism as one of my electives. I am not an aspiring journalist, although I do enjoy writing for this class and the other English classes I've taken. During my free time I enjoy being with friends and doing parkour/freerunning.
Olivia Mason
Hey I’m Olivia Mason, I’m a senior at MRHS and I decided to finish my senior year off with journalism with Mr. Kallen. I’m very excited to graduate and see where life takes me. I don’t want to pursue journalism, but this should be a fun class where I can share my opinion. In my free time I enjoy traveling, listening to music, and spending time with my friends and family.
Samantha Peterson
Hey! I’m taking journalism this year and I really enjoy it. My hobbies include going to the beach, hanging out with my best friend Olivia, and doing anything that involves being outside. I can’t wait to get back to work at Shirt Shack in Ocean City this summer with my best friend. I am a senior at Mainland this year, and I’m excited to graduate. My all time favorite show is the Jersey Shore. I love jamming out to R&B like Chris Brown and especially Akon. My favorite song is “Dangerous,” by Akon.
Luc LaPointe
Hello Readers, my name is Luc LaPointe. I am a sophomore and I am extremely excited to be enrolled in Journalism this spring. I have been working in the journalistic field a little bit since I was in middle school and I enjoy voicing my opinion in an article. I am a pitcher and an outfielder for the Mainland Baseball Team. Along with playing baseball, I also love watching it. I am a dedicated Boston Red Sox fan, and I love all Boston sports teams. I really love to play baseball, watch a good movie, and read very intriguing articles. I hope you all enjoy the articles that I will be writing this semester!
Sarah Lopez
Hey my name is Sarah Lopez and I am a freshman here at Mainland Regional High School. I am enrolled in Journalism this semester. I enjoy playing soccer and am a part of Mainland’s Girls soccer team and the Hamilton Elite FC Avalanche team. On the off chance I am not playing soccer I like to hang out with my friends and my family. I also enjoy staying active.
Hanna Hammoud
My name is Hanna Hammoud, and I am currently partaking in Journalism this Spring as a freshman at Mainland Regional High School. I am an aspiring journalist, hoping I'll be lucky enough to follow the latest politics and report the news in the future. I prefer composing nonfiction pieces--articles that inform and state the facts. In my freetime, I tend to read, as well as work with art(s), such as drawing and crafting. Hope you enjoy my works!
Netyali Ortega
Hi, my name is Netyali Ortega. Don’t worry if you can't pronounce my name on the first try so far no one has been able to do it. I'm currently a freshman in high school and so far my first year has been great. I decided to go into journalism because I wanted to dabble in all the writing I can so I can improve in my skills. I don’t want to pursue journalism, specifically, but I do want to stay in the writing field. I enjoy listening to music, I legit can’t function without it. I also really enjoy drawing as a hobby, I’m not extremely good at it but you can say I'm decent.
Kristina Gitsas
My name is Kristina Gitsas, I am a sophomore at Mainland Regional High School. I am taking Journalism as a spring elective; I do not plan to go into the field of being a journalist, but this class was very appealing to me as being a very opinionated person. I plan on updating and clearing you all up on as many new stories and big events going on in the world as I can. I will also be giving my own point of view on the events I will be writing about. On my free time I like being with my friends and family, listen to music, going to work, and in the summer I love going to the beach. I hope you enjoy the articles I will be writing as much as I will love to write them!
Wendy Corona
Hello my name is Wendy Corona and I am a senior at MRHS. I decided to take Journalism as an elective this spring. Although I don’t think I will be pursuing a job in journalism I thought it would be a fun class to take to finish off my year. I am enlisted in the Air Force and can’t wait to head out to Texas this summer. I enjoy playing soccer and getting ice cream with my sister in my free time.
Tania Demosthenes
Hi everyone my name is Tania Demosthenes. I’m from Haiti. French and Creole is my first language; I’m a senior at Mainland Regional High School. I’m ready to graduate, but I’m taking a course of Journalism with Mr.Kallen(The best Teacher in the world). I am trying to show everybody a different side of me when I talk about fashion and the beauty of it all, especially the colors and how it’s help my personality. Gabe Gershman-Walch
Hi, my name is Gabe Gershman-Walch and I'm currently taking a Journalism course at Mainland Regional High School. Despite not pursuing journalism as a career, I'm excited to be expanding my skills as a writer. I can't wait to go to college next year where I'll be pursuing a hopeful job in medicine. Myriah Bell
My name is, Myriah Bell and I am in a Journalism course at Mainland Regional High School with Mr. Kallen. In the future, I hope to be a journalist because I like writing about current events and topics. Every time I write it becomes a better career choice. In my free time, I'm also teaching myself how to play the violin and sign language. I have a family of awesome cooks, public speakers, and business owners, so I might also pursue career in those fields too.
