The main characters were played Taraji P. Henson as Katherine Johnson, Octavia Spencer as Dorothy Vaughn, and Janelle Monae as Mary Jackson. Taraji, Octavia, and Janelle were very excited to portray such incredible women that made history. The director was said to be very excited to work on this project.

Theatrical Release Poster: Hidden Figures

Hidden Figures was a powerful movie honoring three black women who helped NASA soar during a time when it was just getting started. This movie is to show that women have power and that they are capable of so much more than they are credited for. This movie takes place in 1961 where segregation was much alive as well as the limits women had in the workplace. These women struggled for people to see their true potential and for them to be taken seriously. It was an inspiring film that any woman and upcoming young lady would be sure to enjoy. It teaches people that no matter what there are no limits to one’s talent or potential. I personally enjoyed the film and found it to be inspiring and taught me--and I’m sure many others--to be brave and not be scared by any obstacle out there. I highly recommend this film because it shows difficulties black women face. Their struggle must be heard and in this shown in this film, based on a true story. They are a true inspiration to all women.
