A Dog’s Purpose was released on January 27th, 2017, directed by Lassee Hallstrom. This tearjerking drama is based on a dog that was reincarnated more than once from the 1950s. Throughout all the times he came back, he kept the same personality, memories and interests, but his breed and gender had always changed. He lived hard lives, until Ethan. Ethan was an only child, and lived with his mom. When he adopted the dog, he named it Bailey. In this life, she was a golden retriever. To Bailey, this was the most meaningful life she had ever had. This was a family that loved her, accepted her. Played with her and enjoyed her presence. Throughout her life, she was like a sibling to Ethan. She even helped him get his first girlfriend. Bailey and Ethan did everything together and she was always by his side, even when he grew up to be a football player. Bailey and  Ethan played football together. No matter how far he threw it, Bailey came back with the football. Later on, Bailey finally died from old age, and Ethan was devastated. In the 1970s, Bailey was reincarnated 2 more times until his last reincarnation, which is when he meets up with Ethan again. After meeting up with Ethan again, he helps Ethan in ways you would only think a human, can do. Bailey finally finds his purpose.

In my opinion, this movie is something to watch. Yes, its sad in some ways, but it is also not time wasting. It was good because Bailey was trying to find a purpose in a dog’s life, just like we find a purpose to our lives. He encounters love and hate many times, but it does not change him. This movie is something to learn from, and will make you laugh and cry at the same time, which is why I like it so much. It makes you think about your own animal, if you have one. And makes you wonder about them. So, if you have time, give this movie a watch.
