Ghosts Among Us

Have you ever sat in your house by yourself one night? It's storming like hell and it you’re downstairs watching a movie. Lights sometime flicker on and off, but you pay no attention to it because you’re so focused on the movie until you hear a very faint noise coming from somewhere. You stop breathing for a minute to see if the sound will come back, but it doesn’t. You hear your front door opening up. Thinking it is your parents, you get up to see them, but no one is there, yet the door is wide open. You close it very slowly, and you hear that noise again, but much louder than before. Now you start to get a little worried, trying to turn on the lights, but now they don’t work. Heading back to the living to see your TV not working anymore, and all sudden you hear a THUD!!! Coming from upstairs. Sweat is falling from your temple wiping it off, you fear that if it drops whatever is in your house will hear it. Silence filled the room until you hear a very low mumble like whisper noise coming from behind you. You stand still while the area around you was getting colder. Chills traveling down your spine literally freezing you in your spot then you heard that whisper in your ear saying, “Hello… are you there??” you turn around to see nothing there. You face back to the original direction until you see a lifeless figure standing there with black holes for eyes and you just hear a blood-curling SCREAM!!!

Ghosts could be anywhere (Image 1)

I’m back it again; the Legend Seeker is on the verge on hunting down the ghosts and weird apparitions and possessions. Now, for people that don’t know what ghosts are; they are an apparition of a dead person that is believed to appear or manifest to the living, typically as a nebulous image. So basically they are the dead, but they’re not dead—well they’re not living either, ok whatever doesn’t matter because they’re here, and I’m here to prove it to y’all. Linked to the ghost is the idea of "hauntings", where a supernatural entity is tied to a place, object or person. Colloquially, the term "ghost story" can refer to any kind of scary story. ... Belief in ghosts is found in all cultures around the world, and thus ghost stories may be passed down orally or in written form. In folklore and mythology, a ghost (sometimes known as a spectre British English, specter American English, phantom, apparition, spirit, spook, or haunt) is the soul or spirit of a dead person or animal that can appear to the living. So a ghost can be anything from a human to an animal, but these stories has been roaming around the world ever since Jesus came back from the dead (Get it?). Throughout the world we have developed great, descriptive and ungodly stories from our countries to overseas. When I stumble upon famous ghost stories I was in shock from the results that I got. Some might say that I should be careful of what I wish for and I say to them is that bring it. I found that a writer called Kelley on http://israenet.org had written a report on these supernatural phenomena. He said, “that traditional religious beliefs and paranormal beliefs have parallels with a belief in heaven and hell and that the soul outlives the body. In addition, it has been suggested that paranormal beliefs may replace traditional religious beliefs and serve as religious beliefs in themselves. Most studies, however, have had difficulty finding positive correlations between religious belief and paranormal belief due to the level of religiosity in those with more traditional religious beliefs, such as with Catholics and Protestants. Both Catholicism and Protestantism share the belief that phenomena cannot be easily debunked by science. In regard to the fear of death and terror, the researchers found a decrease in anxiety, whether the subject held traditional religious or paranormal belief, depending on their level of religiosity.”

Also, with these kinds of discoveries, people’s beliefs sometimes change. Researchers Pechey and Halligan have conducted an experiment to see how belief began. In their words they claim, “Results after analysis indicated that belief appears to hinge on the concept of. A framework for explaining how things are or should be” (p. 92). These researchers also found that most of the population endorsed belief concepts such as influencing thoughts and feelings not temporary or passing, influencing your thoughts and behavior, and to some extent, representing being right. On a personal note, although these researchers examined the common public, there is value in recognizing that these characteristics of belief may not simply apply to the common population. Scientists, religious figures, and others in authority are also likely to hold these positions, and other research shows that our beliefs are resistant to change, even in the face of facts and evidence.

The beautiful things about ghost stories is that you can hear them from any place in the world. Even from the backyard on the place you live. If you live you in New Jersey, just get ready to hear some creepiest place in New Jersey and if you don’t believe me go check them out yourself. Here are a couple of place that will strike you with surprise and a hint of fear:

1. Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital, Parsippany. Does any abandoned building in New Jersey evoke the same dread and frisson Greystone does? Opened in 1876 as the New Jersey Lunatic Asylum, the 675,000-square-foot Kirkbride Building on the 1,000-acre grounds was built on what was once the largest continuous foundation in the world. Built to house hundreds of patients, Greystone eventually packed in 7,500 or more. Its most famous patient: songwriter Woody Guthrie, who — suffering from Huntington's disease, a hereditary nervous disorder — stayed here in the late 1950s. Preservationists fought to save the magnificent French Renaissance building, but the state announced this August it had awarded a $34 million contract to demolish Greystone.

2. Snake Hill, Secaucus. A monstrous black rock looming over the Turnpike is scary enough; when you add the fact that Snake Hill was once home to a psychiatric hospital, almshouse and penitentiary, you can see why it has spooked generations of Hudson County kids. And let's not forget all the snakes; Secaucus is often translated as "the place where snakes hide (or live).'' But the rock was inspiration for The Rock. On a train ride from New York City to Newark, an advertising executive passed Snake Hill and was inspired to create the Prudential Insurance Co.'s Rock or Gibralter-like logo, which is used to this day. Today, there's a pleasant waterfront park at Snake Hill, and the Hackensack Riverkeeper runs tours — highly recommended — from there.

3.The Devil's Tree, Mountain Road, Bernards. The legend goes that a local farmer killed his wife and kids, then hanged himself from the tree. Anyone who cuts down the tree, the legend continues, will come to an untimely end. Apparently many have tried; the tree is covered with ax marks. Dave Hochman, who grew up in Bridgewater and also shared his story on Twitter, remembers a Halloween trip to the Devil's Tree with buddies when he was 17, when the area was much less developed.' "Pitch black, nothing around,'' he says. "A friend of ours had an axe and was going to chop the tree down. We get to the tree, and walk up to it, the guy takes a big swing, axe head breaks off as soon as it hit the tree. The axe head went flying back,'' he continues, "and missed the neck of the axe swinger by about 3 inches. The tree trunk was unscathed. We left very quickly.''

Wow, and to be honest these articles are giving me the chills and it's the summer time. Now we are getting to the juicy part about this whole ghost business. Throughout history, people have reported countless incidents that people are being posses from a ghost or a demon. On spiritualresearchfoundation scientist has developed a symptom chart that can show you if you know anyone that or are possess from a ghost. The Foundation states, “When in the proximity of a sāttvik influence, the ghosts (demons, devils, negative energies, etc.) leave the body through any of the nine openings, i.e. two eyes, two nostrils, two ears, mouth, penis/vagina and anus. The person may experience as if gas is going out of any of these openings or one may experience cough, yawning, burping, sneezing, etc. as per the opening involved. Not allowing the person to have his meals: Loss of appetite, nausea on sight of food, feeling better after getting away from food. Sharpened appetite, frequent hunger and having heavy meals: The Absolute Fire Principle (Tējtattva) is required to digest food. As man consists predominantly of the absolute Earth Principle (Pruthvītattva), he cannot digest a lot of food. But if he is possessed by ghosts (demons, devils, negative energies, etc.) he can do so. As the ghosts consist of the Absolute Air Principle (Vāyutattva) they can digest the food by using the Absolute Fire Principle. Refer to the article on the Absolute Cosmic Principles (Panchatattva).”

When a person is affected or possessed by ghosts, he displays the following mental symptoms: -Not feeling like speaking to a colleague or family member without any reason. -Feeling like distancing oneself from a colleague or family member without any reason. -Behaviour contrary to one’s nature. -Intermittent crying, startle without any reason, anxiety, depression, fear, mental illness, suicidal thoughts, etc. The ghosts have to expend just 5% of their energy to scare a person by showing him skulls, frightening images, etc.

-Doubts or negative thoughts: Ghosts put doubts and negative thoughts in the mind of the person so as to destabilize him, cause restlessness and irritability. Some examples of negative thoughts are: -Feeling like strangulating someone. -Increase in ego. -Reduction of faith in God -Anger about others: When a person affected or possessed by ghosts feels anger towards another person without any substantial reason, then it is most likely to be due to the ghost. In such circumstances one should learn to disregard the anger. -Feeling like harming others: A possessed person can feel like harming himself or others. Also in the course of spiritual remedies to exorcise, the person may feel like harming others. In such cases at the very onset, when the possession is not quite complete and some control is present on self, the person should let others know of these feelings. Otherwise once the possessed person manifests his control over himself is lost and he can harm the person treating him.

-Increased or decreased sexual drive. And shockingly, it keeps going it has some sexually affect as well. Now I must warn you that some of these descriptions can be very strong. If a female ghost possesses a woman, it attracts other male ghosts either directly or through the medium of other males possessed by male ghosts. Such women do not feel the need for getting into a formal relationship with the opposite sex like getting married. They come up with some excuse or the other to avoid such relationships.

The list goes on for days and frankly so can I, but I guess y’all get the picture. Look like it or not ghosts do roam all around us. People have built shrines, caves and temples just for these visitations from them. For an example Dia De Los Muertos is a celebration of the dead in some Spanish speaking countries. In English translation it means the Day of the Dead and that is the dead that Spanish culture celebrates the day of the dead. People literally celebrates with so much passion that it is amazing. Sometimes you gotta let the spirit of wonder to take control and let your mind open up to these possibilities. This has been The Legend Seeker keep your soul high...
